Looking back at “Web Analytics – Ready for 2010 yet?” Mobile is still growing even faster, Social Media went over the roof and 2 big acquisitions was made by IBM. So what should we look out for in 2011? Being thinking about that over the holiday and this is what we should look out for in 2011.
- 1 – Social Media Monitoring
Many business are trying to monitor the consumer feedback and reaction online. There are many tools already in the market monitoring the Social Media space and even IBM looking at it more heavily in 2011. Most marketer need more reliable data and better definition/standardisation of metrics than what currently being offer. This is what will be expecting from Web Analytics Association in 2011. In Asia, more focuses will be on tools development for the China enclosed market like Weibo, Ren Ren and Kaixin.
- 2 – Location Base
After Facebook announce Place last year, more user have sign up for Foursquare and Gowalla. In Hong Kong, both platforms are not popular yet but since Facebook have a high penetration in Hong Kong, therefore it will be a game changer. In addition, if anyone haven’t heard of JiePang (Foursquare in China) then you should keep your eyes on that as they are the largest Location Base company in China and expanding it landscape into Hong Kong and Taiwan. What most important is the data being track and how it can be leverage as there isn’t much integration to other analytics platform in the market that link all the data point together.
- 3 – Mobile
In 2010, iPhone, Andriod and Blackberry are racing for the mobile market which created the mobile application development wave all over the world. In Asia, some market leads towards a certain brand and have very different landscape. Therefore, it is very hard for any company to develop mobile application just for one platform. In China, service providers also encourage new generation to develop themselves into the mobile application industry. Again there isn’t any data integration or linkage to other data but it is very important to developer to understand who their customers are and what make the application successful.
To conclude, data is getting more and more complex and there is a need to consolidate all the channel and medium in order to provide a better view for the business in order to make the right decision. Looking forward to new analytic tool being develop in 2011 and if you want to share your view and any additional thought please feel free to share with us.
